The one thing a college kid (or really anyone nowadays) has with them at all times is their phone. Here’s a few apps to help you with daily tasks and staying on top of your academics.

1. Venmo
This free app allows you to pay and request money from friends. It’s great for splitting Uber’s/meals/etc especially because almost every student has it.
2. Canvas/Blackboard
My school (Ohio State) uses Canvas but I know some others uses blackboard. Both are app versions of sites where professors upload grades, assignments, messages and more.
3. Any List
If you aren’t on a meal plan any list is the best app to have to make grocery lists. There’s a free version that works great and I’ve been using it for years. Just add anything you need as you think about it and when it comes to grocery shopping time it’s a ton easier. Plus, if you have a roommate who you share grocery responsibilities with, this app allows you to share grocery lists.
4. Drop Box
Drop Bow allows you to download, store, and view files from anywhere. Plus when you’re trying to email pdfs it makes the processes a lot easier.
5. Group Me
Group Me is a great app for communicating with people you may not necessarily want to give your phone number. This app allows you to make group chats of up to 500 people and are great for using to message classmates about projects. Many clubs and organizations use group me as well. It is also common to find Group Me chats for your dorm building, college class, textbook sales, etc.
6. Quizlet
Quizlet allows you to make flash cards and study sets for every topic. It allows you to use them as normal, but also take tests and quizzes using the terms as well. You can even find quizlets made by other people for your class.
7. Your College’s App
Many colleges have their own app that can fulfill a variety of purpose. Some show you meal plan statuses, parking availability, emergency alerts, campus maps, bus routes and more. If your school has an app download it and see what it has to offer.
